Recently, the research institutions EV Tank, EV Economic Research Institute and China Battery Industry Research Institute jointly released the "White Paper on the Development of China's New Electric Vehicle Battery Industry (2024)". White paper data shows that the overall global sales of electric vehicles will reach 14.653 million units in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 35.4%, of which China's electric vehicle sales will reach 9.495 million units, accounting for 64.8% of global sales. The annual sales of electric vehicles in the United States and Europe in 2023 will be 2.948 million and 1.468 million respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of 18.3% and 48.0% respectively.

EV Tank believes that the rapid growth in sales of electric vehicles has driven significant growth in global EV battery shipments. The white paper shows that global EV battery shipments will reach 865.2GWh in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%. EV Tank expects global power battery sales to reach 865.2GWh in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%. Shipments will reach 3368.8GWh, which is still nearly three times the growth potential compared to 2023. Judging from the competitive landscape of the world's major power battery companies, CATL ranked first with a shipment volume of more than 300GWh, with a global market share of 35.7%. BYD ranked second with a global market share of 14.2%, and South Korea ranked third. LGES, its global market share of EV batteries reaches 12.1%.

According to EV Tank statistics, among the top ten companies in EV battery shipments, Chinese companies occupy six seats, Korean companies occupy three seats, and Japanese companies occupy one seat. EV Tank said that Funeng Technology, the tenth-ranked company in global shipments, although its domestic installed capacity is low, its shipments of Mercedes-Benz and TOGG in overseas markets are relatively high, driving its overall power battery shipments to grow significantly.
