Our chief engineer proceeded a on-site testing of our lithium golf cart battery on a domestic golf cart/ATV manufacturer last week. The testing is to test the performance of the lithium battery in low SOC and the BMS communication with the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) when the golf cart is driving downhill.
If the SOC is not accurate, the golf cart will stop working half way which is awkward thing. In some cases, it may case accident when the golf cart is on downhill driving and the brakes will lock if SOC is 0. Thus the accuracy of battery SOC is very important for a golf cart lithium battery.
For the KERS system, if it can not communicate with battery well, the battery BMS may not judge it if it is charging from charger or charging from KERS, the golf cart may stop and start driving in a high frequency, which is very unconfortable for the driving.
The testing was based on 13% battery SOC and shows that our lithium battery can manage them very well. Our golf cart OE customer is satisfied and impressive with the accuracy of battery SOC and the response to the KERS of the regulator.
